Apostle Ron Carpenter, Jr.

Last night at church during Camp Meeting, the guest speaker Ron Carpenter spoke my language. He was talking about how churches can help make more revenue in the church and do more things for their members by using the OPM method (I’m making that up “Other People’s Money). I’m all for thinking of creative ways for a company to get involved in things and getting them to donate! Anyway, he was teaching (keyword: teaching) us about tithing. We’ve all heard it plenty of times before, over and over again, that tithing was giving God a tenth of your first fruits and for simplicities sake, let’s say a tenth of your income. Well Ron did a little more digging and found that the original meaning is, given to God for Him to rebuke the devourer (the bold is off the top of my head, let me refer back to my notes when I get home). When we tithe, God will open a window and pour out blessings to us, and Ron said that that there are so many people in the church that are praising God to a closed window, worshipping God to a closed window, praying to a closed window, tithing to a closed window.

Ron also talked about us getting out the small frame of mind that we’ve placed ourselves in based off what society is in. God does not want us in poverty where we are, He wants so much more for us, but we first have to change our thinking and think outside of the realm where we are. The enemy spirits are attacking us on the level that we are to become, not the level that we are on. I thought that statement was powerful. The spirits know what your purpose is, but because you don’t, you adapt the spirit of what the world wants you to become.

“But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.” (2 Thessalonians 3:3)
